Hello! I’m Kenneth, an international student at Elite Preparatory Academy in Hopatcong, New Jersey, originally from Shanghai, China.
I’ve been curious about technology for as long as I can remember. When I was around six, the questions were fairly simple: How does a television produce so many colors? Why does a refrigerator stay cold? How does something as ordinary as a button press turn into something happening somewhere else?
The questions have changed since then, but the habit hasn’t.
For much of primary and secondary school, I spent an unreasonable amount of time buried in books and films. Ten-year-old Kenneth somehow decided that Harry Potter, The Three-Body Problem, 007, Mission: Impossible, Venom, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) all belonged in roughly the same media diet.
I still stand by most of those choices.
One side effect of getting absorbed in things a little too deeply was that it sometimes felt difficult to find people my age who were interested in the same questions; or interested in them in quite the same way.
But I don’t think that was entirely a bad thing.
Having a lot of time to think gave me room to build my own little universe: first through books and imagination, and later through code, servers, robots, and whatever strange project happened to catch my attention next.
Over time, curiosity turned into something much more hands-on.
During middle school and early high school, I became increasingly interested in engineering and programming. Not just learning how things work, but actually building them. I founded and now lead my school’s VEX Robotics team, where I’ve spent plenty of time writing autonomous routines, debugging machines that behave nothing like they did five minutes earlier, and helping newer members understand what their own code is doing before rewriting all of it.
Robotics taught me that I like being a maker much more than I like simply knowing things.
There is a very particular kind of satisfaction in taking something that exists only as an idea, fighting through all the parts that refuse to cooperate, and eventually watching it work in the real world.
That same instinct eventually led me into Linux networking, servers, eBPF, XDP, and Auto XDP—a project that started from a practical problem and somehow grew into something other people now use and contribute to.
These days, my interests tend to wander across systems, networking, security, robotics, embedded hardware, and whatever else becomes necessary to make an idea work.
I don’t have a particularly elegant explanation for the pattern yet.
Usually it starts with:
“Why does this happen?”
and shortly afterward becomes:
“Can I build something better?”
This site is where I keep some of the answers, experiments, failures, and occasionally unnecessary side quests.
